What’s the story… ?

Hidden in the rolling hills of Buckinghamshire lies the small village of Chesham. Protected from the worst of the Blitz, Chesham and nearby Amersham have become host to a wide number of military personnel who support the supply depot known as Number 1 Distribution Centre, based at Latimer House, further down the Chess Valley.

With the war going well in Europe, the mood in Chesham itself is buoyant. Camaraderie and morale is high, despite continued rationing and the biting winter weather. All the rumours emanating from the military personnel that live or visit the village is that by this spring, it will all be over.

That is why it came as such a surprise when the post office telephone switchboard in Chesham was vandalised and a large section of wire removed from the assembly.

Can you work out who was responsible for the vandalism?
